Our working group is exploring a low-cost way of monitoring harmful algal blooms across Iowa lakes. There are three cameras on Big Spirit Lake located on Orleans, Marble, and Crandall's Beaches. These cameras take two to three photos a day at specific times to get the best lighting conditions for capturing the water's color. Photos without humans will be used in analysis and all other photos will be discarded.
